London (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Palestinian Embassy in London has been officially inaugurated, a move described by Palestinian Ambassador Hossam Zomlot as an “extraordinary milestone” in UK-Palestinian relations.
Located in West London, the building previously served as the Palestinian Mission. Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Zomlot said the upgrade from mission to full embassy represents more than a change in name—it marks a significant step toward the recognition of the Palestinian state. He added that the event is a day of hope and resilience, reminding the world that peace is not only possible but essential, provided it is built on justice, dignity, equality, and mutual recognition.
UK diplomatic representative Alistair Harrison, speaking immediately after Zomlot, said the occasion reflects a moment of hope and signifies a major shift in bilateral relations. He wished the ambassador and his team a pleasant tenure at the new embassy.
The UK Foreign Office has not yet commented on whether it plans to establish a similar mission in the Palestinian territories.
