GAZA, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Palestinian prisoner Abdullah al-Barghouthi, a commander of al-Qassam Brigades of Hamas, was injured after being assaulted by an Israeli jailer in Gilboa prison on Wednesday.
The Asra Media Office explained that while heading to a visit inside Gilboa prison, Barghouthi was deliberately assaulted by an Israeli guard, who slammed his head against a steel door, injuring his left eye and leaving him bleeding.
According to Asra Media, Barghouthi suffers from severe weight loss and alarming signs of worsening health as a result of his exposure to starvation and medical neglect.
Asra Media warned that Israeli practices against Barghouthi pose a direct and serious threat to his life.
Asra Media said that Wednesday’s incident with Barghouthi reflects a pattern of violations and repression happening systematically to Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails, amid international inaction.
