RAMALLAH (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Palestinian Commission of Detainees’ and Ex-Detainees’ Affairs has said that a large number of Palestinian prisoners in the Israeli jail of Etzion have suffered from food poisoning after eating spoiled meals served to them by the prison administration.
The Commission said that Etzion prisoners told its lawyer, who was able to visit them on Sunday, that they were suffering from food poisoning.
A number of Etzion prisoners experienced severe abdominal pains associated with bouts of vomiting and diarrhea, which led to their suffering from emaciation and dizziness, according to the lawyer.
“The Israeli prison service has been using the most heinous punitive measures against detainees since the beginning of the genocidal war on the Gaza Strip, including keeping them hungry for long periods and providing them with bad and insufficient food,” the Commission added.
The Commission pointed out that any prisoner who objects to such ill-treatment in Etzion jail would face solitary confinement and could be severely beaten.
The Commission appealed to the international community to act urgently to put an end to the suffering of the Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails and protect their rights.
