West Bank Tensions Rise as IOF, Settlers Injure Civilians

WEST BANK, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), The West Bank witnessed a series of Israeli military raids on Friday that resulted in several casualties and arrests, alongside ongoing settler attacks against Palestinian farmers.

In Al-Jalazone refugee camp, north of Al-Bireh, two citizens were injured by live bullets and shrapnel during clashes that erupted after Israeli occupation forces (IOF) stormed the camp and spread through its alleyways.

Local sources reported that one of the injured was shot in the hand with live ammunition, while the other was wounded in the foot by shrapnel, after the IOF fired live bullets, stun grenades, and tear gas.

In Jenin, a 57-year-old man sustained injuries and bruises after Israeli soldiers severely beat him at the Barta’a military checkpoint before he was transferred to the hospital.

Earlier on Friday, the IOF raided the town of Barta’a, stormed several homes, vandalized their contents, and arrested a number of residents. Prisoner advocacy groups also reported theft of money and widespread destruction during the raids.

In southern al-Khalil, Israeli forces arrested a citizen from the village of Arab Al-Zuwaidin while he was plowing his land. Meanwhile, a group of settlers under military protection prevented farmers from accessing their land and herding livestock in the Al-Zuwaidin area of the Yatta wilderness, forcing them to leave.

Armed settlers also pitched a tent on Palestinian-owned land in Khillet Al-Natsh, in the Jabal Johar neighborhood east of al-Khalil city.

In Bethlehem, Israeli forces set up a military checkpoint in the “Um Rukbah” area of al-Khader town, south of the governorate, stopping and searching vehicles and preventing citizens from passing.
