WEST BANK (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) kidnaped last night and at dawn Monday several Palestinian citizens during raids in the West Bank, amid assaults on citizens by soldiers and settlers.
According to local sources, a young man suffered a bullet injury in his leg after Israeli forces stormed the Balata refugee camp in eastern Nablus and clashed with local youths and resistance fighters.
The IOF reportedly kidnaped five citizens, including four brothers, during its raid in Balata camp.
In al-Khalil, the IOF stormed Beit Ummar town and clashed with local youths.
Local sources said that Israeli soldiers ransacked several homes and commercial facilities and assaulted citizens in the town, including members of a family during a raid on their house.
Two citizens were taken prisoners during an IOF raid in the Jabel Johr area in al-Khalil City
In Jenin, the IOF kidnaped four young men, including two brothers from their homes in Meithalun town and stormed other towns in the south of the province.
In east Jerusalem, a young man was injured in his leg when Israeli police forces opened fire at local youths near the checkpoint of Shuafat refugee camp.
In Ramallah, the IOF kidnaped four citizens from the villages of Beit Sira and Kharbatha al-Misbah.
Last night, six citizens were injured by live bullets after Israeli soldiers and settlers attacked Burqa town in eastern Ramallah.
Burqa municipality chief Sayel Kanaan said that a horde of extremist settlers infiltrated into his town and tried to burn his own house, adding that they set fire to a sheep shelter belonging to a local resident and tried to storm other homes in the northern and western areas of the town.
Kanaan also said that the settlers opened fire at local residents as they tried to protect their homes and property, while Israeli soldiers intervened to protect the settlers, fired live ammunition, stun grenades, and tear gas canisters at a crowd of citizens and prevented them and firefighters from extinguishing the blaze.
In Qalqilya, the IOF kidnaped an elderly man identified as Mohamed Rajab from his home in the city.
In Tubas, Israeli forces kidnaped a young man from the city, amid armed clashes with resistance fighters.
In a related context, the number of Palestinian citizens who have been detained or jailed since October 7, 2023, by Israeli forces following raids in the West Bank and Jerusalem climbed to 8,400 on Sunday after the IOF carried out widespread arrests in Nur Shams refugee camp in Tulkarem.
This came in a statement released by the Palestinian Prisoner Society, in which it affirmed the occurrence of massive field crimes at the hands of Israeli soldiers in the camp since last Thursday.
