LONDON (Palestine Foundation Information Center) In a horrific crime added to Israel’s record of violations, Israeli occupation forces set fire to Kamal Adwan Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip, causing the destruction of the surgery, laboratory, and emergency departments, and targeting the entire power supply system. This led to the shutdown of the only functioning hospital in northern Gaza. Additionally, the hospital’s director, Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, was threatened with arrest, and both his fate and that of the patients and medical staff remain unknown.
The Palestinian Forum in Britain (PFB) strongly condemns this heinous crime, which constitutes a direct assault on hospitals and health facilities. “We also condemn the shameful international silence and the clear Arab inaction in the face of this ongoing aggression. The targeting of Gaza’s health facilities reflects the brutal nature of the occupation and exposes the world’s moral and legal responsibility to stop these grave violations.”
Call for a Public Vigil
In light of these alarming developments, the PFB calls upon the Palestinian community and its supporters in the UK to join us for a public vigil on Saturday in Piccadilly Circus, Central London, “to express our outrage and refusal to accept these Israeli crimes against our Palestinian people.”
“We also call upon Palestinian, Arab, and Muslim communities, as well as all friends of the Palestinian cause, to organize similar protests in other British cities at the same time, to raise our voices loud against this brutal aggression,” the PFB statement added.
Our Demands
“Immediate cessation of aggression: We urge the international community to pressure the occupation forces to stop targeting health and humanitarian facilities.
Urgent aid to Gaza: We call on humanitarian organizations to provide medical and humanitarian assistance to the besieged Gaza Strip.
Host the wounded Palestinians for treatment: We urge the British government to provide treatment for Gaza’s wounded in UK hospitals, given the catastrophic health situation in the region. Denying them this treatment amounts to being complicit in the ongoing genocide.
Accountability for the occupation: We call for the prosecution of Israeli leaders for their crimes against humanity, particularly the targeting of medical facilities.”
The statement concluded saying, “Let us stand together as one voice for the Palestinian people in the face of this aggression, and work together to end the ongoing massacres in Gaza.”
