GAZA (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The mayor of Rafah, Ahmed Al-Sufi, said that the Israeli occupation army continues to violate the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, by opening fire on the municipality crews working south of the city.
Earlier Sunday, the Rafah municipality crews were directly targeted and came under heavy Israeli gunfire while carrying out their humanitarian work in removing rubble and opening roads in the Al-Salam neighborhood south of the city.
Al-Sufi stressed that the municipality crews are only doing their purely humanitarian work while racing against time to remove rubble and open streets to facilitate the movement of citizens.
He explained that the municipality crews are doing their best despite the lack of capabilities and the growing risks.
“The occupation does not want to see life return to our city, and insists that Rafah remain hostage to rubble and suffering.”
“These attacks will not deter us from continuing our duty towards our city and our people. We will continue to work, and we will restore life to Rafah, no matter the cost.”
