Hamas: Rafah explosion took place in fully Israeli-controlled area

GAZA, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), The Hamas Movement confirmed that the explosion that occurred in Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip, took place in an area entirely under Israeli occupation control, where no Palestinians live, work, or move.

In a statement released Wednesday evening, the Movement reiterated its prior warnings about the danger posed by war remnants scattered throughout Rafah and other areas. Hamas emphasized that it bears no responsibility for these remnants since the implementation of the ceasefire agreement, especially those left behind by the Israeli occupation during its military operations.

Hamas called for holding the occupation accountable to the agreements it signed and urged an end to the fabricated pretexts used to justify continued escalation and attempts to undermine the ceasefire. The Movement reaffirmed its commitment to the agreement and its obligations.

The statement followed reports by Israeli media that several Israeli soldiers were injured when an explosive device targeted a “Namer” armored vehicle in Rafah. The injured were evacuated for medical treatment.

The incident comes amid ongoing Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement. Rafah and large parts of the Gaza Strip remain under Israeli military control, contrary to the agreement’s first-phase stipulation of a gradual withdrawal.

Since the ceasefire agreement came into effect, Israel has committed hundreds of field violations, including bombings, shootings, and military incursions, that have resulted in the killing of 406 Palestinians and the injury of 1,118 others, according to Gaza’s Ministry of Health. The ongoing breaches signal Israel’s systematic evasion of its commitments and its imposition of new facts on the ground through force.
