Karachi: (Palestine Foundation Information Center )Leaders of the Patron Committee of Palestine Foundation Pakistan (PLF) addressed a joint press conference at the Karachi Press Club on Thursday, announcing a nationwide campaign titled “Ramadan with Palestine.”
Under this campaign, solidarity programs will be organized across major cities including Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore, Quetta, and Multan.
Activities will include seminars, conferences, protest rallies, pictorial exhibitions, and public awareness drives aimed at highlighting the ongoing suffering of the Palestinian people and mobilizing public support for the Palestinian cause.
The speakers announced that the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan will be observed nationwide as International Quds Day.
They urged the Government of Pakistan to officially declare and observe the day at the state level as a demonstration of Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to the Palestinian cause.
The leaders strongly condemned ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza and Lebanon and demanded an immediate end. They also called upon the Government of Pakistan to withdraw its participation in the so-called “Board of Peace,” asserting that any such engagement contradicts the sentiments of the Pakistani nation.
Addressing recent survey claims, the speakers stated that the people of Pakistan consider Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a war criminal and reject him unequivocally. They alleged that certain survey findings attributed to Gallup were misleading and based on distorted facts, aimed at creating soft sentiment toward Israel within Pakistan. The leaders warned that any attempt to normalize relations with Israel would be rejected by the Pakistani public.
Among those who addressed the press conference were prominent political and religious leaders from various parties, including Nuslim Parvez of Jamaat-e-Islami, former members of provincial assembly of MQM Pakistan Mahfooz Yar Khan and Maj (r) Qamar Abbas, Azher Ali Hamdani of Pakistan Muslim League (N), Syed Arshad Naqvi of Pakistan Peoples Party, Israr Abbasi of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Allama Qazi Ahmed Noorani of Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan, Allama Baqir Zaidi of Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen, Younis Boneri of Awami National Party, and representatives of Kashmiri leadership Bashir Sadozai, along with Dr. Sabir Abu Maryam, Secretary General of Palestine Foundation Pakistan.
The speakers emphasized that the purpose of observing this Ramadan under the banner “Ramadan with Palestine” is to raise awareness about the humanitarian crisis faced by Palestinians, particularly in Gaza, and to strengthen moral, political, and diplomatic support for their legitimate rights.
As part of the campaign, a Solidarity with Palestine Conference will be held on March 1 at the Arts Council of Pakistan in Karachi. Prominent political leaders and scholars are expected to address the gathering, while students from various universities will organize a pictorial exhibition highlighting the situation in Palestine.
Further events include A Solidarity with Palestine and Al-Quds Conference at Quetta Press Club on March 2, An Al-Quds Conference in Islamabad on March 8, All-parties conferences in Lahore and Multan on March 3 and 4 respectively will be held.
A grand pictorial exhibition on M.A. Jinnah Road on the occasion of International Quds Day, expected to draw thousands of participants.
The leaders urged Muslim countries to reconsider and terminate diplomatic and trade relations with Israel and to adopt a unified strategy to provide practical support to the Palestinian people.
They stated that recognizing Israel undermines the legitimate struggle of Palestinians and emboldens further aggression.
The press conference reaffirmed support for Palestinian and Lebanese resistance Hamas and Hezbollah and stressed that the right of return for Palestinian refugees is an inalienable right recognized under international resolutions. The speakers called for a free and transparent referendum in historic Palestine, allowing all original inhabitants, including Palestinian refugees abroad, to determine their future.
The leaders concluded by appealing to the public to actively participate in International Quds Day gatherings and raise their voices in support of Palestine.
