GAZA (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Red Cross has described the humanitarian situation in the war-torn Gaza Strip as “still tragic” despite the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah that has brought some hope and stability to a region exhausted by conflict.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Red Cross said that this agreement may provide an opportunity to ease tensions in the region, but seemingly it would not change the difficult humanitarian situation in Gaza.
“Whilst the agreement brings a glimmer of hope, the region remains tense and the humanitarian situation in Gaza unacceptable. We reiterate our urgent call for the immediate respect of international humanitarian law, the protection of civilians and civilian objects, and an unhindered and increased flow of humanitarian assistance,” the Red Cross stated.
