GAZA, (The Palestinian Information Center) Six more Palestinians, including one child, were pronounced dead from starvation and malnutrition in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, amid Israel’s blockade of humanitarian assistance into the war-ravaged Palestinian territory, where the UN-backed Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) system has officially declared a famine.
More than half a million people in Gaza are trapped in famine, marked by widespread starvation, destitution and preventable deaths, according to a recent IPC analysis.
The IPC famine announcement came after months of warnings from rights groups that Israel has been weaponizing starvation against the 2.1 million population of the Gaza Strip.
At least 367 people, including 131 children, have so far starved to death in Gaza, as the Israeli occupation regime continues to restrict the entry of crucial and live-saving aid into the coastal enclave, according to Gaza’s health ministry.
In a related context, hospitals in the Gaza Strip received the bodies of at least 113 civilians, as well as 304 people suffering from different injuries following Israeli attacks during the past 24 hours, according to the health ministry on Wednesday morning.
Accordingly, a total of 11,615 people have been killed and 49,204 others have been injured since the Israeli occupation army resumed its genocidal war on Gaza on March 18, 2025.
The new fatalities increased the death toll from the Israeli genocidal war on Gaza, which started on October 7, 2023, to 63,746 martyrs, including 2,339 aid seekers, the health ministry said.
The ministry added that the total number of the wounded also surged to 161,245 people, including 17,070 aid seekers.
