GAZA, (The Palestinian Information Center) The Hamas Movement condemned Israel’s bombing of Al-Farabi School in western Gaza City, where thousands of displaced Palestinians had taken shelter, as a blatant challenge to international calls for an immediate end to the war.
In a press statement issued Sunday, Hamas said the ongoing bombings and systematic destruction across the Gaza Strip reflect Israel’s disregard for global appeals and the will of the international community.
Hamas warned that the continued and unjustified inaction by the international community and UN institutions has effectively given Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a green light to carry out further massacres and acts of genocide, calling it a staggering international failure to uphold humanitarian law and protect civilians.
“The Israeli occupation tramples every provision of international humanitarian law and brazenly flaunts its violations,” the statement read.
Hamas reiterated its appeal to the United Nations, as well as Arab and Islamic nations, to take urgent and effective action to protect the Palestinian people from genocide and forced displacement. The Movement also warned that allowing Israel’s “fascist regime” to proceed with its military plans threatens not only Palestinians but also regional and global peace and security.
Earlier on Sunday morning, Israeli forces bombed Al-Farabi School, located near Al-Yarmouk Stadium in Gaza City, where displaced families had been seeking refuge. The attack killed eight people, including children, and left several others wounded.
