OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (The Palestine Information Centre)Scores of Palestinian citizens started on Wednesday morning to flock to Occupied Jerusalem and the Aqsa Mosque to commemorate the Mawlid (birthday) of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), amid ongoing Israeli violations in the holy city.
According to local sources, several buses carrying Palestinian citizens from 1948 occupied Palestine (Israel) arrived in the morning in Jerusalem to mark the religious occasion and to support the Jerusalemites’ steadfastness in the face of Israeli violations.
Meanwhile, Palestinian social media activists continued to urge their compatriots to march en masse to the Aqsa Mosque to mark the Prophet’s Mawlid.
The participation of Palestinian citizens from across the occupied territories in commemoration of the Prophet’s Mawlid is important to protect the Aqsa Mosque against Judaization and support the Jerusalemites’ steadfastness in general and the city’s markets and merchants in particular.
During this occasion, Muslims stay at the Aqsa Mosque for long hours, reading the holy Qur’an, performing prayers, listening to sermons and lectures, and participating in different religious gatherings held to commemorate the Prophet’s Mawlid.
In a related context, the Israeli occupation police have imposed today movement and entry restrictions on Muslim worshipers at Jerusalem’s checkpoints, as well as at the Aqsa Mosque’s entrances and gates.
