Settler violence escalates in occupied territories, damaging water and farmland

WEST BANK, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Multiple areas across the West Bank and Occupied Jerusalem witnessed a series of attacks carried out by Jewish settlers on Wednesday evening, targeting Palestinian property, water resources, and agricultural lands. The assaults reportedly took place under the protection of Israeli occupation forces.

In Salfit governorate, a settler stormed the area of Izbat Maghar al-Asmar in Wadi Qana, north of the town of Deir Istiya, where he vandalized and destroyed a water meter belonging to local farmers. The damage caused a disruption in water supply to the surrounding farmland as part of ongoing efforts to pressure farmers to leave the valley.

In the Nablus area, groups of Jewish settlers from settlements built on the lands of the villages of Qusra and Jalud attacked Palestinians while they were working on their land, leading to brief confrontations. Settlers also threw stones at Palestinian vehicles near the Za’atara checkpoint, shattering car windows and causing structural damage to several vehicles.

Armed settlers chased shepherds in the Shaab al-Butm area of Masafer Yatta, south of al-Khalil, preventing them from accessing grazing lands while threatening them with weapons. The move was aimed at seizing larger areas of pastureland to facilitate settlement expansion.

In the northern Jordan Valley, settlers erected fencing around grazing land in the Um al-Qaba plain while simultaneously opening a new dirt road using their own machinery to connect shepherding outposts in the area.

In Occupied Jerusalem, Israeli authorities continued to close Aqsa Mosque for the fifth consecutive day, allowing groups of settlers to move freely around its gates and carry out provocations in the streets of the Old City.

Settlers, accompanied by Israeli forces, also raided a pharmacy in the town of Anata, northeast of Jerusalem, conducting searches and causing damage inside the shop. Meanwhile, another group of settlers chased Palestinian youths near Damascus Gate, shouting racist insults, as Israeli police tightened restrictions on merchants in the Old City markets to secure small settler marches.
