Settler Violence in Nablus Village Injures 25 Palestinians

NABLUS, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), At least 25 Palestinians were injured Friday after Israeli settlers attacked the town of Talfit, south of Nablus in the northern occupied West Bank, according to local and medical sources.

The Palestine Red Crescent Society said one person was wounded by live ammunition and two others were injured in physical assaults during the attack. The wounded citizen was transferred to hospital, while the others were treated at the scene.

Talfit village council head Mahmoud Abu Aisha said the total number of injuries resulting from the assault by settlers and Israeli occupation forces (IOF) reached 25.

He explained that 15 cases involved tear gas inhalation, while four others resulted from live fire and beatings, in addition to other injuries.

According to Abu Aisha, settlers smashed the windows of 10 vehicles, confiscated one car, broke windows in four homes, fired four live rounds at the village mosque, and destroyed an energy generator during the attack.

Witnesses said settlers opened live fire toward residents, wounding a young man in the thigh, and assaulted others, causing bruises and injuries.

During the assault, mosque loudspeakers broadcast calls urging residents to defend the town, while IOF soldiers reportedly surrounded worshippers inside the village mosque during the Friday prayer.

Local sources said IOF units provided protection to the settlers and fired live ammunition, stun grenades, and tear gas toward residents and homes, resulting in multiple cases of suffocation.

In a related incident, settlers also raided the Ras al-Ain area in the nearby town of Qusra, attacking residents under IOF protection in an area where a new settlement outpost is being established.

According to the Palestinian Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, settlers carried out 468 attacks across the occupied West Bank in January alone.

These incidents included physical assaults, uprooting of trees, arson of agricultural lands, blocking farmers from accessing their fields, and seizure of property.
