WEST BANK, (Palestine Foundation Information Center) A horde of extremist Jewish settlers set dozens of Palestinian vehicles ablaze and tried to set fire to two houses in Burqa village, east of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank, on Monday night.
Chief of the village council Sael Kanaan said that several settlers stormed the western area of Burqa and set fire to an auto salvage yard containing dozens of cars, adding that the property belongs to a Palestinian citizen called Mohamed Saber.
Kanaan also said that Israeli forces stormed the area soon later and prevented Palestinian fire trucks from quickly extinguishing the blaze that spread to a nearby brushland, obstructing their work.
Local residents said they fended off the settlers after they carried out their arson attack on the car yard, adding that the settlers withdrew to their illegal outpost called Tzur Harel.
In a separate incident, a Palestinian citizen was injured on Tuesday morning when a group of settlers assaulted him in Masafer Yatta, south of al-Khalil. He was identified as Mousa an-Nawajaa.
In east Jerusalem, the Israeli municipality forced a Palestinian to demolish his own house in Wadi Qaddum neighborhood in Silwan district.
The homeowner, Maher as-Salaimaa, already received a notice from the Israeli municipality in Occupied Jerusalem ordering him to demolish his house at his own expense in order to avoid paying fines and demolition costs if municipal crews carried out the measure.
Hundreds of Jerusalemite homes are threatened with demolition or appropriation as part of Israel’s Judaization plans in the occupied holy city.
