AL-KHALIL, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), A group of extremist Jewish settlers seized several Palestinian-owned caves in Masafer Yatta, south of al-Khalil, on Tuesday in an effort to establish a pastoral settlement in the region.
According to local officials, settlers seized caves belonging to the Hamamda and Atiri families in the hamlets of Khirbet al-Tabban, Masafer Yatta, and brought their sheep into them before releasing them to graze on swaths of Palestinian agricultural land.
The officials warned that the presence of settlers in the area would pose a new threat to Palestinian communities and their lands in Masafer Yatta.
These caves are located near the road connecting the villages of Masafer Yatta and its hamlets, whose Palestinian residents face ongoing displacement threats. They are also close to the hamlets of Maghayir al-Abeed, Isfey, al-Fakhit, and al-Majaz.
