Settlers set fire to mosque entrance, damage olive grove in West Bank

WEST BANK, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), A horde of extremist Jewish settlers set fire to a mosque in the village of Tell, southwest of Nablus in the occupied West Bank, at dawn Monday.

Footage published by Palestinian media shows the charred entrance of the Abu Bakr al-Siddiq Mosque, and the Hebrew phrases “revenge” and “price tag” spray-painted in black on the outer wall.

According to local sources, the fire was set at the mosque’s entrance area, damaging its gate and exterior before villagers managed to extinguish the flames.

The Palestinian Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs strongly condemned the Israeli arson attack on Abu Bakr al‑Siddiq Mosque in the village of Tell.

The ministry said that extremist settler groups in the West Bank operate under the protection of Israeli forces, adding that they attacked 45 mosques last year.

In another incident, a group of settlers felled about 21 olive trees, each more than 50 years old, in the Marj Siʿa plain area, which is located between the villages of Abu Falah and al‑Mughayir, northeast of Ramallah City.

Local sources said that the olive grove belongs to a Palestinian citizen from the village of Abu Falah.

On Sunday evening, an extremist settler broke into a Palestinian citizen’s home in the Masafer Yatta area, south of the occupied West Bank.

A social media video shows the settler wandering among Bedouin dwellings made of tents and metal sheets before storming one of the homes with his donkey, in a scene reflecting the scale of violations faced by Masafer Yatta residents.

Local activist Osama Makhamra explained that the settler stormed the Khirbet al‑Rakeez community with his donkey and sheep, breaking into residents’ homes and violating their privacy.

Makhamra noted that the targeted dwelling belongs to Mohamed an‑Najjar, who faces daily harassment from settlers releasing their livestock in and around his home and other houses and vandalizing swaths of cultivated land belonging to the Bedouin community.
