WEST BANK, (Palestine Foundation Information Center) A group of Jewish settlers on Tuesday stormed the archaeological site in the town of Sabastia, north of Nablus.
According to the mayor of Sabastia, the settlers entered the ancient area amid a heavy military presence imposed by Israeli occupation forces, which included the closure of the site and surrounding roads to the public.
The town has been repeatedly targeted by settler incursions under military protection, often accompanied by provocations and disorderly behavior. Business owners are frequently forced to shut their shops in response.
Recently, the Israeli occupation forces posted documents on village noticeboards declaring parts of Sabastia’s lands as “an Israeli archaeological site.”
