OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Al-Aqsa Mosque preacher Ekrima Sabri warned that Israeli authorities are moving toward direct control and sovereignty over the Mosque, as its closure continues for the 36th consecutive day on Saturday.
Sabri expressed deep concern over the continued shutdown of Al-Aqsa without justification, noting that hundreds of thousands of Muslims were prevented from praying at the site during the holy month of Ramadan.
He rejected Israeli security justifications for the closure, stressing that other mosques and markets across Palestine remain open, and reaffirming that closing Al-Aqsa is not permissible from a religious standpoint.
Sabri also called on Arab and Muslim communities to pressure their governments to ensure the Mosque is reopened to worshipers.
He emphasized that Jerusalem holds the same significance as Makkah and Medina, and that Al-Aqsa is comparable in importance to the Grand Mosque, stressing that the city is not the concern of Palestinians alone.
