CAIRO (Palestine Foundation Information Center) Al-Azhar’s Grand Imam, Sheikh Ahmed Al-Tayeb, on Friday condemned the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran, warning that Israel is pushing the region to the brink of explosion.
In a post written in both Arabic and Persian on his official Facebook page, Sheikh Al-Tayeb said, “I strongly condemn the continued aggression of the occupying entity against the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the systematic attacks and ongoing arrogance carried out by this usurping aggressor entity, aimed at dragging the region to the brink of explosion.”
He also warned that “Israel is seeking to ignite an all-out war in which only the merchants of blood and weapons would benefit.”
He added that “the international community’s silence in the face of this tyranny, and its failure to put a stop to it, constitutes complicity in the crime, with the only outcome being a threat to global security.” He stressed that “war can never create peace.”
Since early last Friday (13/6/2025), the Israeli occupation army has launched a wide-scale assault on Iran, supported by the United States, under the operation name “Rising Lion.” The attack resulted in the assassination of key leaders from Iran’s General Staff and Revolutionary Guard, and targeted nuclear facilities and military centers deep inside the country.
In response to the Israeli strikes, Iran launched what it called “True Promise 3,” during which Iranian missiles and drones struck multiple Israeli targets, including an oil refinery platform, the Army Ministry, a Mossad base, and the Weizmann Institute.
