GAZA(Palestine Foundation Information Center)The sister of a released Thai captive, Vetoon Phoome, who has recently been released from captivity in Gaza during a four-day truce between Hamas and Israel said her brother had not been subjected to torture.
“I asked him whether he was subjected to torture; and he said that he was not tortured or assaulted and had been fed good food,” Roongarun Wichanguen said in a press interview with Agence France-Presse (AFP) on Sunday.
She added that her brother was in a coma and that he was taken care of very well, and that “his clothes were not dirty. So, it looks like he just stayed in a house, not a tunnel.”
The Hamas Movement has released 12 Thai citizens who were held captive in the Gaza Strip, according to Thai Prime Minister Sita Taweesin.
Reuters quoted a source as saying that the release of the Thai workers came within the framework of a separate agreement with Hamas, mediated by Qatar and Egypt.
All the Thais released were men and were not included in the prisoner exchange agreement between Hamas and Israel which stipulated for the release of women and children in both sides.
