Karachi (Palestine Foundation Information Center) A solidarity camp was set up at the Karachi Press Club in support of the Global March to Gaza, with participants including leaders from political and religious parties, civil society, social workers, and human rights representatives.
The event was organized jointly by the Palestine Foundation Pakistan (PLF), the Federal University of Urdu, and the think tank CAP.
The camp aimed to express solidarity with activists participating in the Global March to Gaza in Cairo. Notably, a land convoy from Algeria—following the Freedom Flotilla—has reached Egypt enroute to the Rafah crossing into Gaza. However, the Egyptian government has reportedly blocked the aid convoy using force, detaining and allegedly mistreating activists.
Speakers at the event strongly condemned Egypt’s obstruction of the convoy, accusing it of complicity in the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza. They also held the US government responsible for supporting these measures. Additionally, participants denounced Israel’s recent attack on Iran as an act of aggression and terrorism.
Prominent figures who addressed the gathering included Jamaat-e-Islami’s Asadullah Bhutto,Palestine Foundation Pakistan’s Dr. Sabir Abu Maryam, Federal Urdu University’s Dr. Asghar Dashti, Representative of CAP Dr. Sidra, Former Member of Sindh Assembly Mahfouz Yar Khan (Advocate), PML-N’s Qazi Zahid Hussain, Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan’s Allama Aqeel Anjum Qadri, PTI’s leader Israr Abbasi, PML-F’s Pir Khurram Shah, Christian leader Pastor Emmanuel, ANP’s Younis Buneri, Human Rights Council’s Jamshed Hussain, PPP Councilor Chaudhry Muhammad Tariq, Pakistan Awami Tehreek’s Naveed Alam, Pir Moaz Nizami, among others.
The speakers accused the US and Israel of perpetrating genocide in Gaza through starvation and violence, criticizing the international community’s silence and the inaction of Muslim leaders.
They demanded that Muslim-majority nations sever ties with Israel and called on the Pakistani government to take concrete steps in support of Palestine and Iran.
Other notable attendees included Allama Abdul Waheed Younis, Qadir Masjid President Mufti Abdul Majeed, Mufti Ali Murtaza, Roshan Soomro, Dr. Iftikhar Taheri, Mujahid Chana, Dr. Samreen, Salim Saleh Buzdar, Wahid Baloch, Gul Muhammad Mangi, Atta Imrani, Makhdoom Ayub Qureshi, and Dr. Gohar Mehr.
