Southern Lebanon Ambush Claims Lives of Israeli Troops, Several Injured

BEIRUT, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), The Israeli military acknowledged on Tuesday that an officer and three soldiers from the Nahal Brigade were killed, and three others wounded, including one critically, during a fierce clash with Hezbollah fighters in southern Lebanon.

According to a military statement, the confrontation began Monday evening after Israeli patrols detected armed fighters near the town of Beit Lif, leading to close range fighting.

Several soldiers were injured, and as evacuation efforts began, the unit came under anti-tank missile fire, worsening the casualties.

Israeli forces responded with heavy fire, backed by tanks and airstrikes targeting Hezbollah positions in the area.

Israeli media described the clash as face to face, noting that the attack on the evacuation unit complicated the situation further.

The incident marks one of the deadliest engagements for Israeli forces since the escalation on the Lebanese front began.

At the same time, Israeli forces carried out airstrikes across Lebanon and issued evacuation warnings for areas south of the Zahrani River.

The military said it struck weapons depots and infrastructure, while artillery units fired hundreds of shells in recent days.

Hezbollah, for its part, said it continued launching missile and drone attacks targeting Israeli positions and cities including Haifa, Acre, and Tiberias, and reported carrying out dozens of operations in a single day.

Since the fighting began on the Lebanon front, Israel says at least 10 of its soldiers have been killed and several others wounded, while broader estimates suggest higher injury numbers.

Meanwhile, the death toll from Israeli attacks on Lebanon since early March has risen to 1,247 people, with more than 3,600 injured, reflecting the growing scale of the conflict.
