NABLUS (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Student Union Council of An-Najah University in Nablus in the occupied West Bank has called in a statement on Thursday for worldwide protests, especially on the part of university students, in support of Gaza and of an end to the genocide perpetrated by the Israeli occupation forces in the besieged enclave.
The full text of the statement follows:
“As the war on the Gaza Strip enters its twelfth month, and with the continued crimes of ethnic cleansing and genocide perpetrated by the Zionist occupation army against the Palestinian people, who are steadfast on their land and reject all plots of displacement, the Student Union Council at An-Najah National University renews its call to all student movements and popular activities in Palestinian and international universities, and to all free people of the world, to escalate popular protests against this Zionist crime, and to stand against international silence and complicity with the crime of genocide perpetrated by the occupation in front of the world’s eyes, without regard for international humanitarian law or any of the international community’s institutions.
We, at the beginning of the new academic year, reaffirm the importance and centrality of youth and student movements and their profound impact on changing policies and making decisions that can stop this bloody war and put an end to the occupation’s crimes, which are funded and supported by many regimes around the world.
The persecution of peoples and the confiscation of their right to self-determination and living with dignity on their land is a war crime that humanity abhors, and this crime is not limited to the Zionist occupation of Palestinian land, but extends to include all supporters of this entity from Western powers that bear the burden of this entity. Therefore, we call on free student masses, supporters of our people in every country in the world, to demonstrate against the occupation, governments, and institutions that support it and are silent about its crimes. We demand that they escalate their protests until this mad war stops, which has not left a single house in Gaza without destroying it or displacing its inhabitants and killing them.
We also demand that they escalate calls to boycott companies and institutions that support this entity, tighten the noose around them, and brand them with shame and the crime of genocide. Let the major international universities become open sit-in squares against genocide, and let the centers of major cities be filled with demonstrators against Zionist brutality and its supporters.”
