NAZARETH (Palestine Foundation Information Center)Ten Israelis were killed and several others seriously wounded early Tuesday morning in an Iranian missile strike that hit multiple targets across Israel—just hours before a US-backed, Qatari-mediated ceasefire between Israel and Iran was scheduled to take effect.
Iran launched six missiles in two successive waves, with one striking a seven-story building in the southern city of Beersheba. The powerful explosion killed ten people, wounded many others, and left several individuals unaccounted for beneath the rubble.
Observers of Israeli military affairs reported that one of the primary targets in Beersheba was the “Soldier’s House,” the main headquarters for the Israeli army in the city. The attack is believed to have been a direct response to earlier Israeli strikes deep inside Iranian territory.
The Hebrew daily Yedioth Ahronoth reported that the Israeli army estimated that Iran had launched at least 15 missiles on Tuesday morning. Israel’s Channel 12 confirmed that one of the missiles caused significant damage to civilian infrastructure, with a direct hit on residential buildings in Beersheba.
The Iranian strikes followed a series of deadly Israeli attacks on Iranian military and security sites, including command centers belonging to the Revolutionary Guard, Basij headquarters, a prison detaining political dissidents, and missile production and storage facilities in Tehran. Israeli forces also reportedly targeted roads near the Fordow nuclear facility, seeking to disrupt its operations.
Tehran’s retaliatory missile barrage came just before the 7:00 a.m. deadline set for a ceasefire agreement brokered by Qatar and backed by the United States. According to US President Donald Trump, the truce calls for a phased ceasefire—starting with a 12-hour pause in Iranian strikes, followed by a reciprocal Israeli halt at noon.
The confrontation marks the most significant direct military clash between Iran and Israel to date. It began on June 13, when Israel, with US support, launched a wide-scale offensive against Iranian nuclear and military sites. In response, Iran fired ballistic missiles and drones deep into Israeli territory, dramatically escalating regional tensions and threatening a broader conflict.
