Tens of thousands in Yemen and Morocco participate in Gaza solidarity protests

SANAA (Palestine Foundation Information Center) Tens of thousands of Yemenis and Moroccans participated on Friday in solidarity protests and rallies in support for Gaza and in condemnation of the devastating genocidal war that Israel has been waging on the Strip since October 7, 2023.

The Houthi-affiliated Saba news agency reported that “the capital, Sana’a witnessed on Friday a million-strong rally under the slogan “One Jihad and One Axis with Gaza until victory”.

Thousands of others also gathered in the governorates of Hodeida and Hajjah (west), Saada (north), and Dhale’ (south), according to the agency.

The participants in the demonstrations called for by the Houthi group chanted slogans supporting Gaza and its steadfastness, and the new Chief of Hamas Political bureau Yahya al-Sinwar, the agency added.

In the city of Taiz (southwest), which is under the internationally-recognized government control, an Anadolu Agency correspondent reported that hundreds gathered in a solidarity sit-in with Gaza in the Freedom Square in the city center.

The protesters waved Palestinian flags and chanted slogans in support of the Palestinian resistance and denouncing the “crimes of killing and displacement” committed by the Israeli occupation army in Gaza.

In Morocco, thousands took to the streets on Friday, for the 44th week, to express their solidarity with the Gaza Strip, which has been subjected to a devastating Israeli war since October 7 last year.

The protests were organized by the Moroccan Committee for Supporting the Nation’s Causes after Friday prayers in several cities in the Kingdom, including Casablanca, Fes, El-Hajeb, Meknes, Berkane, and Taza.

The participants in the protests called for supporting the Palestinians and ending the war on Gaza, and chanted slogans “supporting the Palestinian resistance, and others rejecting normalization with Israel.”

The participants in the protests raised Palestinian flags and pictures of the assassinated leader of Hamas Movement Ismail Haneyya and Jerusalem.

Since October 7, 2023, Israeli occupation army with the US support, has been waging a devastating genocidal war on Gaza, leaving more than 131,000 Palestinian martyrs, and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing amid massive destruction and famine that has claimed the lives of dozens of children, in one of the worst humanitarian disasters in the world.
