The role of intellectuals is important to highlight the issue of Palestine.

KARACHI: (The Palestine Information Centre ) Palestinian delegation that came to Pakistan on the invitation of Palestine Foundation Pakistan (PLF) met students including teachers and intellectuals of the University of Karachi on the invitation of the Department of International Relations in the University of Karachi.

The Palestinian delegation included Palestinian researcher and President of the Palestinian Ulama Sheikh Adeeb Yasirji and Yousef Abbas, President of the Global Campaign to Return to Palestine. Secretary General of Palestine Foundation Pakistan Dr. Sabir Abu Maryam was also with them on this occasion.

The Palestinian delegation also met Prof. Dr. Shaista Tabasim, Dean of Arts & Social Sciences, University of Karachi, and paid tribute to her for her academic services.

A special meeting was organized for the teachers, intellectuals, and researchers organized by the Department of International Relations of the University of Karachi, which was hosted by the Chairman of the Department of International Relations, Dr. Naeem Ahmed.

Dean of Islamic Learning Prof. Dr. Zahid Ali Zahidi, former chairperson of the Department of international relations, Dr. Talat Wezarat, Dr. Amjad Abro, Dr. Faisal, Dr. Sadaf Mustafa, Dr. Kishwer, Dr. Moeez Ahmed, Dr. Nosheen Ahmed, Imtiaz Ahmed, Yasir Khan, and others were present from the department.

Among those who participated in the meeting from different universities, Dr. Fazli Hussain, Hasan Ahmed, Nimra Naveed, Miss Samia, Maddad Ali Sabri, Miss Sabeen Ahmed of National University of Modern Languages (NUML), while Waqas Bin Dilshad from Benzair Bhutto Shaheed University and Farwa Hasan from NED university Karachi were present.

Addressing the meeting held in the Department of International Relations of the University of Karachi, the participants of the Palestinian delegation said that today the situation in Palestine has changed from before. I wanted to tell you that we do not expect anything from the governments, but we know that the people of the world are with Palestine. He said that he was very happy to come to Pakistan. The people of Pakistan are great. The Palestinian delegation appreciated Pakistan by reiterating the position of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Iqbal regarding Palestine.

Dr. Shaista Tabasim, Dean Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences, University of Karachi, addressed the meeting and said that the issue of Palestine is an Islamic issue as well as a humanity cause. Dr. Talat Wezarat said that Israel is using biological weapons against Palestinians. The Chairman of the department Dr. Naeem Ahmed thanked the guests and said that we are always with Palestine and will remain.

At the end of the meeting, the Palestinian delegation presented Palestinian scarf to the teachers and awarded special honors to Dr. Shaista Tabasim and Dr. Naeem Ahmed.
