Thousands of Moroccans rally for Gaza in weekly protests against Israeli genocide

RABAT,(Palestine Foundation Information Center)  For the 84th consecutive week, thousands of Moroccans took to the streets across the country on Friday to express their unwavering support for Gaza and the Palestinian cause, condemning the ongoing Israeli genocide in the besieged enclave.

The demonstrations followed Friday prayers in multiple cities, including Al-Qasr Al-Kabir, Al-Madiq, Fez, Meknes, Kenitra, Berkane, Oujda, Midelt, and Tinghir. The protests were organized in response to a call by the Moroccan Committee for the Support of the Nation’s Causes, a non-governmental group advocating for solidarity with Palestine.

Participants held signs that read, “Palestine is always in our hearts, not just one day” and “Day of rage against the displacement and genocide of Palestinians.” Protesters demanded an urgent increase in humanitarian aid to Gaza, where famine is sweeping through the population under the weight of the Israeli blockade.

The rallies were held under the slogan “Victory is from Allah alone” and drew large crowds from various segments of Moroccan society, including activists, students, and religious groups.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel—backed unconditionally by the US—has carried out a genocidal war in Gaza, resulting in over 195,000 Palestinians martyred or wounded, the majority of them children and women. More than 11,000 people remain missing, and hundreds of thousands have been displaced as the blockade has triggered a famine that continues to claim lives.
