RAFAH(Palestine Foundation Information Center) Two citizens from Rafah and Khan Yunis were martyred on Wednesday after being shot by Israeli occupation forces (IOF) a few days ago, south of the Gaza Strip.
Local sources said that Mohammed Asfour, 42, died of a serious injury sustained during an IOF drone bombing in eastern Khan Yunis on Tuesday.
Earlier today a local source in Rafah said that citizen Hamdan Qishta was martyred due to serious wounds he sustained after being shot by Israeli occupation forces in Rafah City.
The Government Media Office (GMO) in Gaza reported on Tuesday that 137 Palestinians have been martyred in the Gaza Strip since the ceasefire went into effect on January 19, including 52 martyrs in Rafah.
The GMO head, Salama Maarouf, said in a statement, “The occupation has deliberately intensified its crimes against our people and its violations of the ceasefire agreement, the most recent of which was the killing of five people near the Kuwait roundabout, including two brothers who were bombed by the occupation army’s drones.”
He pointed out that the occupation continues to pressure the people and exacerbate their suffering through the crime of tightening the siege and preventing basic life necessities on the one hand, and increasing its field crimes by killing citizens in cold blood on the other hand.
Maarouf said the occupation is fabricating a narrative that justifies the killings against unarmed civilians, including children and women, as none of them posed a threat to its soldiers, and most of them were killed while inspecting their homes located near IOF positions.
Maarouf called on the mediators to oblige Israel to abide by its obligations stipulated in the ceasefire agreement, and to put an end to its continuous crimes of siege and killing.
The GMO head also called on the international community to assume its responsibilities towards Israeli occupation’s crimes, the most recent of which is the crime of collective punishment by tightening the siege on 2.4 million people, and field killings against civilians.
