JENIN (Palestine Foundation Information Center) Two Palestinian young men were killed and two others were injured at dawn Saturday when the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) opened fire at them near the Salem checkpoint in the west of Jenin City, north of the West Bank.
Eyewitnesses said that two resistance fighters were killed during armed clashes with Israeli soldiers near the Salem checkpoint, adding that the IOF seized their bodies and transported them to an unknown place.
However, local sources said that the IOF set up an ambush for resistance fighters near the checkpoint and showered them with bullets, killing two of them and injuring two others.
The martyrs were identified as 22-year-old Mustafa Abed, from Kafr Dan town, and 21-year-old Ahmed Shawahna, from Silat al-Harithiya town.
Meanwhile, the Red Crescent said that its ambulance crews transported two wounded young men from a site near the checkpoint to hospitals in Jenin City.
The Palestinian health ministry, for its part, said that doctors at the Jenin Hospital were providing medical assistance for two citizens suffering from moderate bullet injuries.
