Two people killed in Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon and Syria

BEIRUT (Palestine Foundation Information Center) An Israeli drone carried out an airstrike early Saturday morning in the town of Deir al-Zahrani in southern Lebanon, killing a young man.

According to the National News Agency, Mohamed Jammoul, 33, was on his way to a mosque in his hometown to perform dawn prayers when the drone targeted his vehicle on the road adjacent to the Deir al-Zahrani–Nabatieh highway near the pedestrian bridge. He was killed instantly.

He was the brother of a resistance fighter who was killed in clashes with Israeli forces in the town of Yohmor al-Shaqif during the 66-day war.

The strike was preceded by Israeli Apache helicopters flying deep into the area’s airspace.

Earlier, a spokesperson for the Israeli occupation army said that the Israeli air force conducted airstrikes targeting several military sites and infrastructure in different areas of Lebanon, claiming the bombed sites belonged to Hezbollah.

In Syria, the Israeli army launched airstrikes on military bases along the country’s western coast on Friday evening.

Syrian media sources reported that violent explosions rocked the governorates of Latakia and Tartus on the western Syrian coast as a result of Israeli airstrikes.

Syrian state media reported late Friday that one person was killed and three others injured in the Israeli airstrikes.
