GAZA (Palestine Foundation Information Center) UN Deputy Spokesperson Farhan Haq confirmed on Thursday that approximately 12,500 patients in Gaza are still in urgent need of medical evacuation.
Haq called for enabling medical institutions to carry out these evacuations through all available crossings and corridors.
During a press briefing in New York, Haq stated that the World Health Organization (WHO) has been able to support some medical evacuations from Gaza. On Wednesday, Israel allowed only 18 patients and about 30 accompanying individuals to exit the Strip for specialized treatment.
He reiterated the urgent need to reopen border crossings to allow the entry of essential supplies into Gaza, warning that available resources are running critically low as the humanitarian situation deteriorates.
Haq also highlighted that more than 60,000 Palestinian children in Gaza are suffering from malnutrition, at a time when fuel and supplies are rapidly depleting in community-run charity kitchens.
Across Gaza, UN partners have also warned of a severe shortage of clean water in shelters housing displaced people.
Several international and local organizations had previously warned of the severe consequences of tightening the Israeli blockade, predicting an escalation into widespread famine among the Palestinian population.
Meanwhile, Israeli forces continue their renewed genocidal war on Gaza for the 25th consecutive day, following the collapse of a ceasefire on March 18, which had lasted for 57 days.
Since the resumption of hostilities, Israeli forces have committed further massacres and war crimes against civilians, displaced families, and entire communities. According to updated figures, 1,522 civilians have been killed and 3,834 others injured since March 18.
