BEIRUT (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The UN special coordinator for Lebanon warned Sunday of an “imminent catastrophe” in the Middle East amid spiking violence between Lebanon’s Hezbollah and the Israeli occupation state, saying a military solution was not the answer.
“With the region on the brink of an imminent catastrophe, it cannot be overstated enough: there is NO military solution that will make either side safer,” special coordinator Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert said in a statement on X.
Meanwhile, Hezbollah announced today that it launched dozens of rockets at Israel’s Ramat David airbase, east of Haifa, in response to a series of recent deadly pager and walkie-talkie attacks in Lebanon.
The Israeli occupation army claimed that more than 150 rockets, missiles and drones had been fired at its territory during the night and early Sunday morning, most of them from Lebanon.
