UNRWA: Aid reaching Gaza is “a needle in a haystack”

GAZA (Palestine Foundation Information Center)The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, said on Friday that the humanitarian aid currently reaching Gaza is “a needle in a haystack.”

In a post on X, Lazzarini highlighted the ongoing catastrophic humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, which has persisted since Israeli occupation forces closed the border crossings on 2 March.

He noted that Palestinians in Gaza, under the weight of Israel’s genocidal war, have endured “hunger, deprivation, and the denial of basic life necessities for more than 11 weeks.”

“The aid reaching Gaza now is like a needle in a haystack,” he stressed, adding that “a continuous and effective flow of aid is the only way to prevent the catastrophe from worsening.”

Lazzarini explained that the absolute minimum required is “500 to 600 aid trucks per day, managed through the United Nations, including UNRWA.”
