GAZA, (The Palestine Foundation Pakistan)
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has warned that hundreds of thousands of displaced people in the Gaza Strip are entering winter without proper shelter, with many living in dilapidated tents lacking basic necessities.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday evening, the UN agency said that more than 282,000 homes in Gaza have been either destroyed or damaged during the ongoing war, citing data from the Global Shelter Cluster, a humanitarian housing coordination group co-managed by the UNHCR and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
UNRWA’s statement added that tens of thousands of Palestinian families have been forced to live in makeshift tents as winter approaches. These families endure cramped conditions, lack of privacy, and extremely limited access to essential services.
The agency confirmed that it and its partner organizations are continuing to provide humanitarian aid to displaced families, despite the rapidly deteriorating living conditions.
