UNSC Resolution Exposes Bias Against Palestine

The sacred land of Palestine, the land of the Prophets, has been the target of Zionist occupation and conspiracies for more than a century. A saga of oppression and brutality has been written here, the likes of which history rarely records. The people of Palestine have courageously endured political, economic, and moral injustices for decades, countering every form of tyranny through their patience and steadfastness. Even in today’s modern world, Palestinians have proven that their resilience has rendered the world powers helpless.

The issue of Palestine is not merely a test of the collective conscience of the Muslim Ummah; it is also a reflection of the global political order. Despite the relentless Israeli aggression over the years, the ongoing genocide of Palestinians, grave violations of human rights, and the catastrophic humanitarian crisis in Gaza, global powers, particularly the United States, have continued to openly support Israel. During the last two years of war, the U.S. government has unabashedly extended full support to the occupying Zionist regime, and has never condemned the barbaric atrocities inflicted upon the Palestinian people.

In this environment, where the United States has simultaneously sponsored the genocide in Gaza and strengthened Israel’s military campaign, it has now introduced a new resolution in the UN Security Council aimed at consolidating Israel’s complete control over Gaza. This U.S.-backed resolution is nothing but a political tactic designed to grant Israel more time, legitimacy, and support. In other words, what the U.S. and Israel have failed to achieve on the battlefield, they now seek to accomplish with the help of certain countries,or rather, with the betrayal of some Muslim governments in an attempt to defeat Gaza.

The recent U.S.-sponsored resolution presented before the UN Security Council is part of the same chain of conspiracies. Its objectives are to cement U.S.-Israeli domination over Gaza, dismantle the Palestinian resistance, prevent the forced exiled Palestinians from returning to their homeland, and deprive Palestinians of their right to decide their own future. It resembles previous historical injustices such as the 1917 Balfour Declaration and the UN General Assembly Resolution 181 of 1947, which effectively paved the way for the Zionist takeover of Palestinian land.

What is astonishing and deeply disappointing is that several Muslim countries, including Pakistan, supported this American resolution. Some remained silent, while others, especially Pakistan, showed a vague and weak diplomatic posture. This approach undermines not only the Palestinians’ right to self-determination, right of return, and right to resist, but also threatens the political independence and ideological foundations of the Muslim world.

Even more surprising is that China and Russia criticized the resolution and refused to vote in its favor. Although their absence allowed the resolution to pass, history will record that while China and Russia opposed it, not a single Muslim country demonstrated such courage. This proves that many Muslim rulers remain subservient to Washington.

The Russian ambassador termed the U.S. resolution “unbalanced.” He stressed that any Security Council decision must be based on established international legal principles, including the internationally recognized status of the State of Palestine. He further argued that the resolution contradicts important international legal decisions and poses the danger of granting Israel a permanent administrative role over occupied Palestinian territories, an approach incompatible with the principle of Palestinian self-determination. Russia also expressed serious reservations over the proposal to deploy an international “stabilization force” in Gaza.

Although the resolution uses terms like “ceasefire” and “humanitarian aid,” its underlying purpose serves Israeli interests and U.S. strategic goals. The resolution does not mention any accountability for Netanyahu’s war crimes. Instead, it frames Israel’s genocide of Palestinians as its “right to self-defense.”
Similarly, the legitimate Palestinian resistance, recognized internationally as a lawful right, is condemned in the resolution. It calls for disarming or dismantling Palestinian resistance groups and urges the deployment of an International Stabilization Force (ISF) led by Muslim countries under U.S. and British supervision. The proposed mission of this force would be to disarm the Palestinian resistance inside Gaza.

Supporting such a resolution is nothing less than strengthening the oppressor’s narrative against the oppressed.

Along with other Muslim states, Pakistan voted in favor of this U.S.-backed narrative that undermines Palestinian rights. This stance has raised serious questions about Pakistan’s historical position on the Palestinian and Kashmir cause.
Pakistan has always been a firm and unconditional supporter of Palestine. Long before independence, the founders of Pakistan upheld a just and principled position on Palestine. After independence, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah declared Israel an illegitimate state and categorically stated that Pakistan would never recognize it. Pakistan continuously defended Al-Aqsa and Palestinian rights at global forums with strong arguments.

Yet today, by supporting this U.S. resolution, rejected by the Palestinian people themselves, Pakistan has not only shaken its own ideological foundations but also damaged Palestinian trust.

This move will weaken Pakistan’s distinctive role in the Muslim world, undermine its global credibility, and erode its leadership position as a nuclear power within the Muslim Ummah.

Furthermore, the support for this resolution reflects the government’s flawed policies, not the will of the Pakistani people. No citizen of Pakistan would endorse such a stance, for the people of Pakistan stand firmly and passionately with Palestine.

If anyone is misleading Pakistan’s rulers into believing that abandoning the Palestinian cause and normalizing ties with the U.S. and Israel will bring prosperity, they are living in a fool’s paradise. History bears witness that those who trusted the United States were left devastated.
Several Arab countries normalized relations with Israel in recent years, yet has this distanced their people from the Palestinian cause? Absolutely not. The Arab masses remain steadfastly committed to Palestine.

The truth is that the U.S. operates a strategic agenda aimed at weakening Muslim nations, especially those with strong militaries,so they remain permanently subservient to Western interests.

All Palestinian national factions, including Hamas, Islamic Jihad have categorically rejected the U.S.-sponsored resolution, calling it an Israeli project designed to benefit the occupier. They describe it as a new license for genocide in Gaza. According to the Palestinian resistance, the resolution seeks to undermine their struggle and sacrifices, yet Muslim governments, including Pakistan, have signed on to it.
If Muslim nations genuinely desire justice and peace for Palestine, they must: Reject the U.S. resolution, Present a counter-resolution demanding: Permanent ceasefire in Gaza, Investigation of Israeli war crimes, Prosecution of the perpetrators and their supporters, Resolution of the Palestinian issue according to the will of the Palestinian people, Termination of diplomatic ties with Israel, Unrestricted humanitarian aid to Gaza, Political and moral support for Palestinian resistance.
Muslim countries should unite behind such a resolution, not bow to U.S. influence and risk being remembered as accomplices to the betrayal of Palestine.
concluded that, Supporting the American resolution is not a mere diplomatic gesture, it is a profound moral failure. It is a blow to the hopes of the oppressed Palestinians, to the unity of the Muslim Ummah, and to the very foundations of global justice.
Pakistan and all Muslim nations must adopt a courageous, principled, and unconditional stance against aggression and in favor of Palestinian freedom.

The liberation of Palestine is not only the struggle of one nation, it is a matter of the collective honor, dignity, and ideological identity of the Muslim Ummah.
