SANA’A (Palestine Foundation Information Center) Warplanes of the US-British coalition launched multiple airstrikes on the Yemeni capital, Sana’a, and the northern City of Saada early Thursday, the Ansarullah-run al-Masirah satellite channel reported.
The strikes targeted three sites in Sana’a, in the areas of al-Jiraf, Hafa and Jarban, as well as two other sites in Saada, in the areas of Kahlan and al-Abla, the channel said.
There was no information from the Yemeni authorities in Sana’a about casualties or material damage.
For his part, US secretary of defense Lloyd Austin said that B-2 stealth bombers conducted “precision strikes” against five underground weapons storage locations belonging to the Houthi (also known as Ansarullah) in Yemen.
The strikes hit “hardened” underground facilities used to store weapons and their components of the kind used by the Houthis to target civilian and military vessels in the region, Austin added.
“This was a unique demonstration of the United States’ ability to target facilities that our adversaries seek to keep out of reach, no matter how deeply buried underground, hardened or fortified,” the Secretary stressed.
“The employment of US Air Force B-2 Spirit long-range stealth bombers demonstrate US global strike capabilities to take action against these targets when necessary, anytime, anywhere,” he added.
Yemen’s Ansarullah group has been launching rocket and drone attacks against Israeli cities and “Israeli-linked” ships since last November to show solidarity with the Palestinians in Gaza, whose population is facing a US-backed Israeli genocidal war.
In a related context, the Hamas Movement strongly denounced the renewed US attacks on Yemen and the Israeli attacks on Syria, calling them a reflection of the Zio-American aggression against the region’s countries.
“The widespread criminal aggression that was launched by US bombers against Yemen, and the Zionist raids that targeted the Syrian City of Latakia reflect persistence in committing such violations against the region’s peoples … and are considered failed attempts to re-impose Zio-American deterrence equations in the region,” Hamas said in a statement on Thursday.
Hamas expressed its belief that the US administration seeks to force Yemen to stop its blessed operations in support of the Palestinian people after freezing all tools of international pressure aimed at stopping the genocide against defenseless civilians in the Gaza Strip.
Hamas also accused the US administration of being fully involved in the brutal genocidal crimes in Gaza and making lies about its keenness on ending the human suffering of Gaza people.
