US-backed Israeli genocide in Gaza enters day 173

GAZA (Palestine Foundation Information Center) As the US-backed Israeli genocidal war on the Gaza Strip entered day 173 on Wednesday, massive aerial and artillery strikes continued to pound neighborhoods, homes, shelter centers, and aid convoys, and massacre more civilians, mostly children and women.

A reporter for the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) said that the Israeli occupation army continued to attack different areas of Gaza, killing and injuring hundreds of citizens, despite the resolution, adopted last Monday by the UN Security Council, calling for an immediate ceasefire for the holy month of Ramadan.

According to media sources, a woman and her daughter were martyred in an Israeli attack on al-Zawaida town in central Gaza.

Israeli warplanes bombed three buildings containing about 100 apartments and reduced them to rubble near Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City. No casualties have been reported.

The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) also destroyed another number of apartment buildings in al-Amal City, north of the al-Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, while warplanes bombed two apartment buildings on Palestine Street in Gaza City.

Meanwhile, five civilians were killed in an Israeli attack on the al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza, amid clashes between Israeli forces and resistance fighters.

The IOF targeted a gathering of citizens near the Karni (Mintar) border crossing in the northeastern end of the Gaza Strip, killing eight of them.

Another IOF attack on a house in Khirbet al-Adas in northern Rafah claimed the lives of 11 civilians, including four women and three children, while a warplane bombed a house belonging to the family of al-Hamaida in ash-Shabura refugee camp in central Rafah.

Israeli forces stormed at dawn the Nasser Hospital in western Khan Yunis and kidnaped a number of medical workers, doctors and displaced civilians from its buildings. They also opened fire at young citizens after ordering them to leave the facility.

On Tuesday evening, 12 civilians, including children and women, were massacred and many others were injured when an Israeli warplane bombed a tent housing a Palestinian family in al-Mawasi area in western Khan Yunis, which the Israeli army claims to be a safe zone.

Al-Mawasi area, on the Gaza Strip’s Mediterranean coast, is now home to tens of thousands of Palestinians displaced by nearly six months of war, who are now sheltering in makeshift tents.

Many of them were displaced by the Israeli army from the area of Gaza City’s Al-Shifa Hospital and northern Gaza.
