GAZA, (Palestine Foundation Information Center ) US Senator Jeanne Shaheen, the top Democrat on the senate foreign relations committee, has condemned Israel’s bombing campaign in Gaza after an airstrike on a hospital killed five journalists on Monday.
Speaking by phone from Beirut, Shaheen expressed her deep shock and called for an immediate end to the Israeli war on Gaza.
“I personally am appalled by the bombing in Gaza and by the killing of journalists. And I think it needs to end now,” Shaheen told reporters.
Shaheen was in the Middle East as part of the US delegation who met with the Syrian president. Congressional Democrats, who once were stalwart supporters of Israel, have recently become more outspoken critics of how Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu has conducted his war on Gaza.
