WFP: Aid delivered to Gaza since May less than one day’s needs for the population

GAZA  (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The United Nations World Food Program (WFP) stated on Wednesday that it has only managed to deliver 9,000 tons of food aid to the Gaza Strip since May 19.

In a post on the social media platform X, the WFP noted that this amount “represents less than one day’s worth of food needs for every individual in the besieged territory.”

The organization emphasized that it is prepared to scale up its humanitarian operations in Gaza but stressed that doing so “requires guarantees for safe access and improved field conditions” to enable its teams to operate effectively.

These remarks come as more than two million Palestinians in Gaza continue to face a dire humanitarian crisis, amid an ongoing Israeli assault and a tightened blockade that has caused severe shortages of food, water, and medicine.

Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli occupation—backed unconditionally by the United States—has been committing acts of genocide in Gaza, resulting in more than 188,000 Palestinians killed or wounded, the majority of whom are women and children. Over 11,000 people remain missing, alongside hundreds of thousands who have been forcibly displaced.
