GAZA (Palestine Foundation Information Center)Cindy Hensley McCain, Executive Director of the World Food Program (WFP), stated on Sunday that there is no evidence to support Israel’s claims that Hamas is stealing humanitarian aid.
Speaking to CBS News, McCain said, “People are rushing to aid trucks, and this has nothing to do with Hamas or organized crime.”
She stressed that half a million people in Gaza are currently facing severe food insecurity.
McCain affirmed the WFP’s commitment to continue delivering food and supplies to support operations in Gaza, particularly for bakeries trying to stay operational amid the crisis.
However, she noted that routes necessary for delivering aid remain completely closed, adding: “We cannot do our job unless the international community puts pressure on Israel.”
She emphasized the urgent need for food to enter Gaza to avert a looming famine.
Since 2 March, the Israeli occupation has kept Gaza’s crossings shut to food, relief aid, medicine, and commercial goods, triggering a dramatic deterioration in the humanitarian situation.
With direct support from the United States, Israel has been committing a bloody genocide in Gaza since 7 October 2023, leaving over 173,000 people killed or wounded, the majority of them women and children, with more than 11,000 missing.
