GAZA (Palestine Foundation Information Center) As a result of Israel’s refusal to allow any aid shipments to enter the Gaza Strip as part of its genocidal war on the population, the UN World Food Program (WFP) has run out of food and is no longer able to feed displaced families in the war-battered territory.
In press remarks to BBC on Friday, WFP executive director Cindy McCain warned that the program delivered its final food stocks to kitchens in Gaza, and these kitchens are expected to deplete their supplies in the coming days.
McCain also warned that more people in Gaza would face famine due to the program’s failure to deliver aid, calling for a ceasefire and immediate access for humanitarian workers.
“There is nothing left. There is no place to go for food anymore,” McCain said.
“Food is not political and to make food political is something that is unconscionable,” she added.
Responding to Israeli claims that Hamas uses aid as a tool to maintain its power, the WFP official affirmed that the program’s staff in Gaza had only seen people starving and not seen evidence of such claim.
