GAZA, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Bassem Naim, a senior leader in the Hamas Movement, called on Western media outlets to issue formal apologies after fervently defending the Israeli occupation and attempting to whitewash those responsible for genocide in Gaza.
In a press statement, Naim noted that the Israeli occupation itself has adopted the figures released by Gaza’s Ministry of Health, which estimate that around 70,000 Palestinians have been killed during the war, excluding those still missing under the rubble.
He added that the Ministry of Health’s precise data confirms that 71,667 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces since the war began, up until yesterday, figures that have been corroborated by multiple international and UN bodies.
“Throughout the months of war and genocide, political hypocrisy and disinformation campaigns in the West, especially by major outlets like BBC, CNN, The New York Times, Fox News, and others, blindly defended Israel’s narrative,” Naim added.
He emphasized that these institutions, which helped enable genocide by shielding and whitewashing the perpetrators, must offer clear and public apologies, reinstate journalists and staff who were dismissed for taking ethical stands in support of Palestinian rights, and seriously reconsider their moral frameworks, particularly those which claim to uphold freedom, dignity, and human rights globally.
