GAZA,(Palestine Foundation Information Center)The founder of World Central Kitchen, José Andrés, said that “there is no excuse for the world’s silence as it watches two million people in Gaza teeter on the brink of full-scale famine.”
In a press statement on Sunday, Andrés added, “Those with a conscience must act now to stop the famine in Gaza.”
He emphasized that the Israelis, as occupiers, bear the responsibility for ensuring the minimum living conditions for civilians in Gaza.
He also noted that “our aid convoys experienced very little looting before Israel blocked humanitarian aid in March.”
Andrés called for the immediate opening of humanitarian corridors for all aid organizations operating in Gaza.
Meanwhile, the humanitarian situation in the strip continues to deteriorate, with all border crossings completely closed for over 140 days, despite a prior agreement on a ceasefire and prisoner exchange that Israel has failed to implement.
Israel, with US backing, is waging a campaign of genocide against the population of Gaza through killing, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement, in blatant defiance of international appeals and International Court of Justice rulings demanding an end to the war.
