SANA’A (Palestine Foundation Information Center) Yemen’s armed forces said on Monday it had launched a drone operation against a “military target” in Jaffa City in 1948 occupied Palestine and carried out a counterattack on two US warships in the Red Sea.
“We carried out an operation against a military target in Jaffa, using a Jaffa drone,” spokesman for the armed forces Yehya Sariee said in a televised statement aired by al-Masirah TV.
“Our naval and air forces also conducted a joint military operation targeting two US destroyers in the Red Sea with several cruise missiles and drones,” Sariee added.
He noted that the strikes on US warships were “in response to the ongoing US aggression and crimes against Yemeni people,” referring to the latest US airstrikes on a house in Sana’a City Sunday night, which killed at least four people and wounded over 20 others, including 11 women and children.
Sariee stressed that the US strikes would not stop Yemen from supporting the Palestinian people, vowing its operations would not cease until the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip stopped and the siege on it was lifted.
Tensions have escalated between Yemen’s armed forces and the US since March 15, when the US army resumed airstrikes on targets in northern Yemen to prevent attacks on Israeli-linked vessels in regional waters.
The Ansarullah group, which controls the military institution in northern Yemen, repeatedly affirms that their attacks are in retaliation for US airstrikes on Yemen and aim to pressure Israel to end its genocidal war and siege on Gaza.
