Yemen’s army announces blockade on Israeli-linked ships

SANA’A(Palestine Foundation Information Center) Yemen’s armed forces have announced the resumption of a full ban on Israeli ships in the Red Sea, Arabian Sea, Bab al-Mandab Strait, and the Gulf of Aden, effective immediately in response to the ongoing blockade on the Gaza Strip.

The Yemeni army issued a statement on Tuesday announcing the move. The ban takes effect immediately and will remain in place until Israel reopens crossings into Gaza and allows humanitarian aid to flow.

“Any Israeli ship attempting to break the ban will be targeted,” the statement warned.

This marks the end of a temporary hiatus in Yemen’s naval operations against Israeli-linked vessels. The group had halted operations following a ceasefire agreement between Hamas and the Israeli occupation government in January.

The armed forces had given the Israeli government an ultimatum on Friday that it would resume its attacks against Israeli-linked vessels if its blockade on Gaza was not lifted within four days.

Since March 2, and for the 10th consecutive day, the entry of all humanitarian and commercial supplies into Gaza has been halted by the Israeli government, severely impacting humanitarian operations and exacerbating the already dire humanitarian situation.
