280,000 Palestinians attend Laylat al-Qadr prayers at Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa

About 280,000 Palestinian worshipers marked last night Laylat al-Qadr, a revered Ramadan night, at Al-Aqsa Mosque in the occupied city of Jerusalem.

Jerusalem’s Islamic Waqf said more than a quarter of a million Palestinian worshipers marked Laylat Al-Qadr in Al-Aqsa Mosque last night.

The courtyards and prayer halls of Al-Aqsa were filled with worshipers who came from the occupied West Bank, Jerusalem, and 1948-occupied Palestine, despite the restrictions and barriers put in place by Israeli occupation forces.

Muslims believe the Prophet Muhammad ascended to heaven from the holy site.

Laylat al-Qadr, or Night of Power, is believed by Muslims to be the night the first verses of the Quran were revealed to the Prophet Muhammad. Laylat al-Qadr is said to fall on one of the odd nights of the last 10 days of Ramadan, with the exact night unknown, although it is commonly believed to be the 27th.
