CAIRO, (Palestine Foundation Information Center ) In a meeting with US President Donald Trump, leaders from Arab and Islamic nations emphasized the urgent need to end the war in Gaza, release Israeli captives, and allow adequate humanitarian aid into the region as a first step toward a just and lasting peace.
The statement was issued by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday and was attributed to leaders of member states of both the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation participating in the multilateral summit with Trump, held at the United Nations headquarters in New York.
According to the statement, the summit brought together the United States and leaders of eight Arab and Islamic countries at Trump’s initiative, on the sidelines of the high-level week of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.
The leaders reaffirmed the “necessity of ending the war and achieving an immediate ceasefire to ensure the release of hostages and the entry of sufficient humanitarian aid, as a first step toward a fair and lasting peace.”
Meanwhile, Israeli forces continue their aggressive war and campaign of genocide in the Gaza Strip for the 719th consecutive day, committing horrific massacres and war crimes against civilians and displaced persons, particularly in Gaza City.
