Al-Aqsa Mosque faces record settler raids as Jerusalem violations mount

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Israeli forces and settlers intensified their violations in Occupied Jerusalem during June 2026, carrying out 540 documented violations against Palestinians, their property, and Islamic holy sites, according to the Ma’ta Palestine Information Center.

The center reported that more than 8,900 Jewish settlers stormed the Aqsa Mosque compound during the month. It also documented 20 incidents of desecration at the site and two expulsion orders issued against Palestinian residents and worshipers maintaining a presence at the Mosque.

According to the report, ten Palestinians were injured in Occupied Jerusalem during June. It also recorded 25 shooting incidents, 25 settler attacks and settlement-related activities, and five physical assaults.

Israeli forces also carried out 71 arrests and 102 raids and closures and imposed 183 movement restrictions, including the establishment of military checkpoints.

The report further documented 63 home raids and property confiscations, along with 32 home demolitions and incidents of property destruction.

During the first half of 2026, the report said 11 Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces or settlers in the Jerusalem Governorate, while 191 others were injured and 866 Palestinians were arrested, amid escalating violations against Palestinians and Islamic holy sites.

The report also noted a significant increase in Israeli violations at Aqsa Mosque during the first six months of 2026, recording 25,604 settler incursions, in addition to 524,912 visitors who entered the compound under what Israeli authorities classify as “tourism.”
